Accordionist and singer Alphonse Ardoin was a leading practitioner of the pre-zydeco style known as “la musique Creole.” This sound also incorporated Cajun music, and made prominent use of the fiddle; Ardoin’s best known accompanist on the latter was the late Canray Fontenot.
