Multiple Grammy, Billboard, and Emmy award-winning musician Bill Summers is a pioneer in the field of world percussion. A native Detroiter, Bill is a veteran of Herbie Hancock’s Headhunters and worked closely with Quincy Jones on the ABC series Roots, the Wiz, and the Color Purple. He has gone on to perform and record with an incredible range of musicians including Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, Stanley Clarke, Carlos Santana, and Michael Jackson. Bill currently co-directs the “The Headhunters” of Herbie Hancock fame and the Latin Jazz sensation “Los Hombres Calientes” with Irvin Mayfield. Living in New Orleans, Summers heads “The New Urban Music Movement” (The NUMM) which assists up and coming artists reach their career goals. He is currently the producer of the DrumNola Project, a collaboration of over 50 renowned musicians tracing the trajectory of New Orleans music culture from Africa through the Diaspora to New Orleans Congo Square and into popular forms of today. DrumaNola is a self reliance project that puts money in the pockets of musicians.
