Tipitina’s is a nightclub in uptown New Orleans. Named for the title of a song by Professor Longhair, the club was founded in 1977 at a time when New Orleans’ rich street culture and traditional music was experiencing a huge resurgence. Tipitina’s became an important site in this progress and remains important musical/cultural institution yet today.
