This Shreveport-based country music radio show, performed in front of a live audience and broadcast on radio to a far-reaching audience, nurtured the careers of prominent musicians as Hank Williams, Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash. In its heyday, the Louisiana Hayride was second in influence only to Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry; sporadic broadcasts continued into the 1970s.
