Traditional jazz trumpeter William “Bunk” Johnson went from teen years to young adulthood during the first decade of the 20th century, when traditional New Orleans jazz was making its first evolution leaps. Johnson is best remembered, however, as a leading figure in the first revival of tradition New Orleans jazz, which took place in the 1930s.
