Richard “Dick” Allen

Oral historian and traditional jazz expert Dick Allen was one of the most important researchers of early New Orleans jazz, and played a key role in the creation of the William Ransom Hogan Jazz Archive at Tulane University, which he curated from 1958 until 1980.
