Jolie Blonde
Perhaps the best known and most popular song in Cajun music, and informally regarded as “the Cajun national anthem,” the song now known as “Jolie Blonde” (“Pretty Blonde,” in English) was first recorded under the title “Ma Blonde Est Parti (“My Blonde Is Gone”) by Amédée Breaux in 1929. The Hackberry Ramblers recorded the song as “Jolie Blonde” in 1936, and ten years later the Cajun-swing fiddler Harry Choates recorded an especially popular version.
