Kumbuka African Drum & Dance Collective

Kumbuka African Drum & Dance Collective is Louisiana’s premiere African dance company. Kumbuka is dedicated to the preservation of African and African-American folklore through the medium of dance, music and song. The company presents works from traditional folklore from Africa, Haiti and Dances of Congo Square New Orleans. The company consists drummers, dancers, chanters, stilt-walkers, masquerades and Mardi Gras Indians. Kumbuka is a Swahili word that means “remember.”
